"Beautiful! Wish You Were Here!"

Day #10
Date: Sunday, August 2, 2015
Departure: Elk Ridge, Maryland
Destination: Pikeville, Kentucky
Miles: 498 Absolutely Gorgeous Miles

Grandpa says,
"Nothing but green trees, rolling hills, nice temperature and very little traffic!"

Jase says,
"Best drive yet. Hills full of dense trees and vines and jagged rock edges. It looks similar to the Arizona Gorge but covered in trees. Winding turns have gone on for 498 miles and still going...
Every flat spot has a store or a bunch of houses.....every single flat spot.
Hidden homes and stores scattered for 200 miles."

Grandpa says,
"Let's Live Here!"

Pikeville is the home to the famous Hatfield and McCoy Clans
The town has a large Hillbilly celebration every September and there are historical markers, grave-sites and cemeteries bearing the Hatfield and McCoy names.
Pikeville is about 326 miles northeast of Nashville, Tennessee

MAKING GRANDMA HAPPY
See our Sunday Hair?
Very nice and tidy for this year's All 48 State Tour.
(Well...Jase's is a little short but we are all used to it.)

Grandma had a melt-down with last year's buzz party prior to the
All Around The USA Motorcycle Trip.
Complimenting the buzzed-off hair with full beards just about put her in the grave!
She wouldn't even go anywhere with Grandpa until his hair grew out and he shaved off the beard.

Prior to All Around The USA Tour
Ben and Jon stayed home but got caught up in the excitement.

TODAY'S ACTIVITIES

Nope! Not the lottery in Cumberland, West Virginia.
These computers were for ordering lunch.
Technology.....who can live without it?

Neck Cooler worked so good that Grandpa had to take it off when the temperature dipped to 84 degrees.
Burrr!

This photo is of downtown Pikevill. We were starving and nothing was open on Sunday.
Grandpa, Jase and Ben stood on the corner and waited while the two younger boys ran down the block and back again reporting if there was anything open.

We finally gave up and got back on the bikes and settled on KFC.
Get it?
KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN!

At the KFC, the server asked,
"Where y'all from?"
We replied,
"Idaho and Utah."
He said,
"Wow! What y'all you doing in Kentucky?"
We said,
"We are traveling to all 48 states on our motorcycles!"
He said,
"Wow, Why would ya wanna do that?"
We just looked at him.....perplexed.
He said,
"Where y'all staying?"
We said,
"At the Hampton Inn"
He said,
"Wow!"
Jase said,
"THAT'S WHY WE BRING GRANDPA!"
