You Will Find The World's Largest In Every State

Day 2:   Tuesday  July 22   638 Miles     From Dickinson, ND to Ashland, WI through Bismarck, Fargo, and Duluth

FUNNIEST THING

The funniest thing of the day has been getting our Morning Moo from The World's Largest Cow named Salem Sue! You will find her in Salem, North Dakota.

As you travel across the United States you begin to see a pattern; The World's Largest Rocking Chair is found in Wyoming, The World Largest Sand Hill Crane and World Largest Buffalo are also found in North Dakota. The World's Largest Paul Bunyon is found in not one, but seven states, and on and on it goes - You will find The World's Largest of Something in every state. It becomes hilarious when you watch for these large icons while traveling.

WEATHER and GREATEST CHALLENGE

The morning fog was our greatest challenge today. For over an hour we had to drive slow enough to see ahead of us - but fast enough to not get hit from behind!

WILDLIFE
2 deer
1 black bear
1 big black snapping turtle 10" in diameter (On the road in Minnesota!)

PEOPLE WE MEET
Every time we stop for gas, food or just a quick rest, we meet people! They come up to us and express.....

  • Unbelief
  • Admiration
  • Jealousy
One UPS Driver in Duluth, Minnesota is the Chapter Director for the Goldwing Road Riders Association GWRRA. He was full of jealousy! However, nobody bought dinner for us today. Our North Dakota friends are still the winners.

ROUTE

  • We began our 638 mile journey from Dickinson, North Dakota. We traveled along Highway 94, Highway 10 and Highway 210.
  • This adventure has become a battle of who will be the first to cry "uncle" and beg to stop traveling for the day. I believe the word is "testosterone"!
  • Duluth Minnesota was absolutely gorgeous! As it came into view, the bridges and Lake Superior took our breath away.
  • We are now on the shores of Lake Superior in Ashland, Wisconsin and have stopped for the day.
  • We are 250 miles ahead of our itinerary! We hope to gain ground for those states where we have to slow down and meander through little villages and towns.

THANKS FOR FOLLOWING US ON OUR ADVENTURE
OF COMPLETELY CIRCLING THE USA!

After 1000 miles it feels better to stand than sit while eating our lunch
