648 Miles through Maine; New Hampshire; Massachusetts; Rhode Island; Connecticut; New York; New Jersey; Pennsylvania and Delaware. Delaware is the most beautiful state so far; gorgeous lawns and fields and orchards. Today's destination is Seaford, Delaware via.....
STATE OF NEW YORK
Worst roads ever - chuck holes and bumps to rival any Canadian roadway
THE BRONX!
Yikes! No GPS! We got lost....really lost
Help, Help! We got on but we couldn't get off! $50+ for tolls on bridges and roads. Stop and pay, stop and pay. Freeways going 75 miles per hour down to 0 miles per hour is 5 seconds.
PEOPLE WE MEET
57 thumbs up from various people as we passed them or they passed us. Awesome!
One lady asked us if our motorcycles were automatic :-\ "Seriously?"
WILDLIFE
23 deer all in Delaware - they were on people's lawn just like sheep
DID WE MENTION THE TRAFFIC?
Harrington, Delaware was hosting the Delaware State Fair so the traffic was unreal. And no motel rooms available for miles around. Cars were parked everywhere imaginable.
.
We traveled on Highway 13 down to Seaford which is about 50 miles south of Dover, the capital of Delaware. But alas.....Seaford was hosting a men's baseball tournament and a women's softball tournament so getting a motel room was a bit of a struggle once again. We need everyone to send money$$ for our un-anticipated motel expenses! (Just kidding)The Diner (railroad box car) in Seaford, Delaware served the best food we have had on our trip so far. We ordered Prime Rib and Rice Pudding for dessert. It was worth the 14 hours it took us to get there. We left at 6:15 am and arrived in Seaford at 8:15 pm. It has been a long day and we are beat-up but we are loving every minute of our sore necks and shoulders and backs.
Sunday will be a great day to rest up a bit and renew our spirits! The Seaford ward starts at 10:00 am and that is too late for us to make it to our next destination so we will search for a steeple as we travel south toward the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel.
