TODAY - NO SPEAK-A FRENCH
Today's BLOG post submitted by Son not Dad......
Leaving Massey Ontario at 6:40 am (2 hours ahead of our Mountatin friends) we took Highway 17 to Montreal then Highway 20 east. The whole Region is French so we got lost in Montreal because neither of us can speak French. Jason speaks Romanian as a second language but not French. Lynn speaks English as a first and second language and the GPS did not work for 400 miles and had no clue where we were. We wandered around through the middle of Montreal for an hour through traffic jams and around in circles to find the right road. Today we were grateful to have heated jackets because it has been as low as 45 degrees. Now that we are in Montreal the temperature has risen to 75 degrees.

We were the only two people in Canada who went to breakfast and didn't order coffee. We stopped at one restaurant as a bluff so we could use the bathroom so we felt guilty and ordered some kind of squishy coffee cake for dessert hoping that it would keep us awake but all it did was make us sleepy. I think coffee cake is miss-labeled. The waitress kept interchanging between English and French and we had no clue what we were ordering or how much it cost.
TODAYS CHALLENGE
Hopefully the French Canadians will not read this blog. The roads have been terrible! They are under construction or should be. Jason had to keep stopping and tightening his bolts and screws that hold his bike together. Lynn had to keep stopping to push his teeth fillings back in! However, the landscape is beautiful.
WILDLIFE
- 2 scruffy/stinky men who don't change their underwear or shave. Their appearance now matches their smell!
- 5 deer seen by Jase - Lynn missed them because he was concentrating on the road too much
- 2 squished raccoons
582 miles to reach Drummondville Quebeck at 7:30 pm. Eleven hours in the saddle today.
Tomorrow we will head for our first check-point on our Four-Corners Tour; Madawaska, Maine. We are anticipating our arrival to be one day ahead of schedule.
RELIGIOUS NOTE.....
Both Dad and Son or almost through Alma! Not bad for four days of driving and listening and watching and talking and having a great time together.
