FLAT FACTS

Imagine this:  Traveling in the center lane - on the freeway outside of Seattle, Washington - going 70 miles per hour - reminiscing about our great adventure - then the trailer begins to wobble and shake! The cars behind us honk and slow down allowing us to drag our one-flat-tire trailer to the shoulder.  Thank goodness the flat was on the right, outside tire which made it relatively safe to change.  So with cars whizzing by, three-feet away, we made the change in record time.  Moral of the story is:  Don't carry your spare under the trailer as suggested or designed or you will have to unload both bikes to get at the spare which may have been dragging for quite some time.  Due to my pre-trip trailer preparation, I read this tip on line "Carry your spare in the car - not under the trailer".    

So We Bought A Trailer!

I have struggled, it has been difficult....but the decision to purchase a trailer threatened my "Iron Butt" male ego more than I can express.  My wife has tried to comfort me with the reminder that, "You have ridden your motorcycle through all 48 contiguous states two times and conquered Alaska twice and rented a Harley and ridden the Road to Hana in Maui!  You don't have anything to prove to anyone!" (Renting the Harley in Maui was a bit of a challenge to have to confess to my Goldwing Riders but......I did tame the Road to Hana!)

And........my wife got a bike, learned to ride it, practiced and practiced, got a motorcycle endorsement.....just for love.  I want my wife to enjoy the adventure with me.   However, she does not have the luxury of unlimited vacation days - She feels compelled to fulfill her work commitments and her home and family responsibilities.    She likes to play the piano, and paint watercolors and do things with our children and grandchildren.  Plus she just hates driving the high speeds of the freeways.  She finds her stamina and strength waning when required to get on her bike day after day, alert to every danger, for weeks at a time.  So we decided to sweeten the experience just a bit.  We are beginning an era for a New Legend by Lynn:
We Bought a Trailer!
We are going to drive where we want to be, in relative comfort of XM Radio, climate control and ease.  We will travel long and fast in a short amount of time so we can leisurely enjoy shorter miles and more scenic routes together on our motorcycles.   Plus we are both getting older and our feet swell!

New Legend Begins.....
We will trailer our bikes to base-station Anacortes, Washington (Yes....we are repeating this trip again because it was so fabulous).  There we will embark on our motorcycle adventure to Orcas Island, San Juan Island, Victoria on Vancouver Island, Whistler BC and back to Anacortes.  Sixteen days of fun......more to come.
